Zoe Ann Sheehy, 77, passed away after a courageous and hard fought battle with ovarian cancer on Friday, November 13th, 2009 at the St. Catherine Center at Providence Park in Waco. Graveside services will be 11AM Monday, November 16th at Oakwood Cemetery with Father Lawrence Soler officiating. The Holy Rosary will be recited 7PM Sunday, November 15th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with visitation to follow at the church. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Thoughts and memories may be shared in the online Guest Book at www.LakeShoreFuneralHome.com.

Zoe was born October 31, 1932 to Dr. Clarence Hubby Reese and Hal (Barnes) Reese. Married to former Waco Mayor (1992-96) J. Robert (Bob) Sheehy in 1954, she was a lifelong Waco resident.

Zoe was a devoted wife to Bob, her husband of 55 years, providing constant, constructive support for his many civic and community endeavors. St. Louis Elementary, Reicher High School, Providence Hospital, McLennan Community College and the City of Waco are just some of the institutions that benefited from the dedicated efforts of Bob and Zoe over the years. They were a formidable team.

Along with assisting Bob with his civic duties and his successful career as an attorney, Zoe was a loving mother to their six children. An active and caring mother, Zoe made sure all of her children made it to adulthood safely and in good health and made certain that they all graduated from college. They have, in turn, blessed her with 10 grandchildren. Her faithfulness, her determination and her ferocious love for not only her family, but also for her many friends made her a paradigm that we can only hope to emulate.

Her 4-year battle with cancer showed her incredible strength and courage. Already confronted with caring for her husband stricken with Alzheimer

  14. Laura, thank you so much for letting me know about Zoe Ann’s death. She was my precious room-mate at Christian College when we first went away to college. We have kept up with each other thru the years sharing the hi-lights of our families.My husband and I saw Bob and Zoe Ann a few years ago when we were in Waco visiting a grand daughter at Baylor. It was a good reunion for us and we e-mailed a few times after that. The written memorial to your mom touched my heart. I think she was the Proverbs 31 woman to her husband and family. My life has been blessed by her friendship. Her picture is beautiful. May God’s presence comfort all of you.Most sincerely with heartfelt sympathy in your loss. Jopy

  15. I had only met mom once, but felt a lot of love and family in her.

  16. As you all are aware I was just in Waco for my own Mom’s funeral. It is never easy to say good bye regaurdless of how sick they are. Your Mom always remembered to send me a card on my birthday and had a drink ready for me when I would stop over to visit her and Bob.
    It was always a SPECIAL treat to come by for the Christmas eve breakfast to see the family but especially your Mom and Dad. I always felt she treated me as one of her own.She was very firm, but fair. I have comfort knowing that we have another angel watching over us!
    God Bless,
    Kent

  19. i am in tears. i got to know Zoe Ann & Bob with the TADC. we walked, played tennis and talked. in a world of pretense, she was the yellow rose. Allan & I are honored to have been a friend. I was so excited when she came to San Antonio and met me for lunch. If we could come to the service we would. I have been to several services for people where i was amazed at the number of people attending. the church will be overflowing with the people there and the love from those who are there in spirit.

    GOOD-BYE

    Ralph Waldo Emerson

    GOOD-BYE, proud world! I’m going home:
    Thou art not my friend, and I’m not thine.
    Long through thy weary crowds I roam;
    A river-ark on the ocean brine,
    Long I’ve been tossed like the driven foam;
    But now, proud world! I’m going home.

    Good-bye to Flattery’s fawning face;
    To Grandeur with his wise grimace;
    To upstart wealth’s averted eye;
    To supple Office, low and high;
    To crowded halls, to court and street;
    To those who go, and those who come;
    Good-bye, proud world! I’m going home.

    I am going to my own hearth-stone,
    Bosomed in yon green hills alone –
    A secret nook in a pleasant land,
    Whose groves the frolic fairies planned;
    Where arches green, the livelong day,
    Echo the blackbirds roundalay,
    And vulgar feet have never trod
    A spot that is sacred to thought and God.

    O, when I am safe in my sylvan home,
    I tread on the pride of Greece and Rome;
    And when I am stretched beneath the pines,
    Where the evening star so holy shines,
    I laugh at the lore and the pride of man,
    At the sophist schools and the learned clan;
    For what are they all, in their high conceit,
    When man in the bush with God may meet?
